Life is...

Sometimes, we tend to ask ourselves philosophical questions. While the answer of some of these questions is found after 30 seconds of contemplation, the answers of the other questions are obtained after seeking the help of a spiritual guide v.i.z. priest, fakir or clergyman. But even after performing the tasks mentioned above, sometimes the answer doesn’t reveal itself. These type of questions can be called the “serious philosophical questions”.

When encountered
with a serious philosophical question, one has two alternatives:

(a)Throw the question out of the window
        (b) Keep searching until one encounters a clear answer

Among these, the most common one is: what is life?

Everything in this universe has been assigned a task. Just like the sun is obliged to light up every nook and corner of our galaxy, the plants have been assigned the task to exhale oxygen for animals and humans to be able to live.

But when the Creator obliges Man to go to earth and complete a particular task till the time his soul stays in his body, then that length of time along with his experiences on the planet is called “life”.  Until the moment the soul leaves the person’s body, one is said to be alive. When the Creator thinks that the person’s life should end and orders the soul to return to Him, then the person is declared by others dead.

Life is a gift to one from the Creator. A gift that one gets only once; a gift, when not used properly or to its full potential, makes one regret. The task the person has been assigned is called destiny. Paulo Coelho has the following to say about this: “....each one of us have our personal legend( destiny) to fulfill and that is all. It doesn’t matter if other people support us or criticize us, or ignore us, or put up with us- we are doing it because that is our destiny on this earth, and the fount of all joy”.

When one begins to understand life, one thing becomes clear: life is, in a nutshell, what you want it to be.
